Move your university application to the top of the pile.
Ask any boarder why they came to UCC and the answer’s the same. UCC is consistently ranked as the top Canadian boarding school by leading independent websites. And UCC boasts a 100% university acceptance rate to universities around the world.
So what gives us the advantage?
That’s easy. In your last two years at UCC, you’ll study for the International Baccalaureate, a rigorous diploma originally developed as a universal educational standard for children of diplomats and others who travelled a lot.
Students select from six subject groups including a second language, mathematics, the sciences and the humanities. You’ll benefit from a balanced program with a strong emphasis on creativity, physical activity and community service.
The type of student who flourishes in the program is: self-motivated; looking for intellectual stimulation; seeks the best possible preparation for further study and a career; is willing to devote a good part of his time to academic work outside school hours (an average of two to three hours a day); is aware of the importance of developing strong time-management, study, and exam-writing skills; and able to balance academic responsibilities with significant participation in extracurricular activities such as athletics, cultural pursuits, and community service.
Universities are impressed by the IB’s emphasis on critical thinking, higher-level writing and research skills, and general all-round rigour. You’ll develop strong time management, study and exam-writing skills. That means you’ll be well prepared for university work, and will often benefit from enhanced recognition when the time comes to apply.
